For those of you who are in Year 12, now is a great time to start looking into university scholarships for 2016. Please see below for a list of some of the merit-based scholarships that will be on offer. Please note this list is not exhaustive, and most universities offer equity and sports scholarships as well. For more information, please visit each respective university’s scholarships page.

University of Sydney – Sydney Scholars Program These scholarships are offered based on academic results and other achievements that show qualities including leadership, creativity, self-motivation and communication. University of Sydney – Sydney Scholar Chancellor’s Award This scholarship is awarded to students who achieve an ATAR of 99.95. In addition to financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, it also delivers priority access to accommodation and leadership programs.Learn more at an Information Evening.

University of Sydney – Dux Scheme This scheme offers duxes in New South Wales a guaranteed place at USYD, based on academic achievement and a dux nomination by their school principal.
  • 70+ ATAR (minimum)
  • You must list USYD as your first preference
  • Recipient of Dux award as nominated by your school principal.
08/01/16
    • If Dux nominations are received before 30 September, you will receive a conditional offer before you sit the HSC.
    • If nominations are received after 30 September, you will receive a main round offer in January.
    • If you are nominated, you will need to select at least one USYD course as your first preference.
    • Once HSC results are released, duxes will receive information about which courses they are eligible to accept (dependent on ATAR result)
University of New South Wales – Co-op Program This scholarship is set up by industry partners and UNSW. It offers financial support and industry training for selected undergraduate students in business, science, engineering and built environment. It is valued at $16,750 per year, for 5 years.Learn more at an Information Evening.

University of New South Wales – Scientia Scholarship This scholarship was established to encourage students who achieve an ATAR of 99.9+ to undertake full time study at UNSW. Recipients receive financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, mentorship, invitations to special events and the opportunity to become student ambassadors and research assistants.Learn more at an Information Evening.

University of New South Wales – Malcolm Chaikin Foundation Scholarship This premier UNSW scholarship is available to high achieving students who are undertaking the HSC and wish to study in the fields of Science, Engineering or Commerce/Science at UNSW. University of Technology Sydney – Dean’s Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to top ATAR students who undertake the UTS Bachelor of Business. The Science Dean’s Scholarship is offered to students who undertake any degree within UTS Science. It is valued at $5000 per year, for 4 years.

  • Reside in or have undertaken HSC in Greater Western Sydney
  • UWS course as their first preference

Macquarie University – Alex Mitchell Alumni Scholarship This scholarship assists the holder to pursue a full-time program of study leading to a Bachelor degree majoring in the Faculty of Arts. It is valued at $2500 per year, for 3 years.

Charles Sturt University – CSU Excellence Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to students based on academic merit and evidence of leadership and citizenship within the community. It is valued at $5000 per year, for 5 years.

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

La Trobe University – Dean’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence This scholarship is available for eligible students commencing in undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering. The recipient will be given $6000 for the duration of one year.

  • No previous tertiary study
  • Preferably be enrolled in a nominated course

Monash University – Monash Scholarship for Exceptional Achievement This scholarship was established to support exceptionally achieving students commencing full-time study at Monash University. It is valued at $12,000 per year, for the duration of their degree.

  • Completed Australian Year 12 or IB
  • No previous tertiary study
  • Minimum distinction average/semester

  • No application required – all eligible applicants will automatically be considered
Australian National University – National Merit Scholarship This scholarship rewards academic excellence in secondary school studies. It provides assistance with tertiary costs in the form of $6500 per year, for 5 years.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Completed Year 12
  • No previous tertiary study
  • Must put one ANU program as a first-third UAC preference

  • No application required – all eligible applicants will automatically be considered
