What we tutor at our Hurstville campus

Our Hurstville teachers cover the full NSW curriculum – from primary school fundamentals through to HSC excellence. Here’s what’s on offer:

Maths tutoring Hurstville (Year 3 to Year 12)

From Year 3 number sense to Year 12 Maths Extension 2, our maths teachers in Hurstville follow a structured, ahead-of-school curriculum that builds deep understanding, not just formula memorisation. Students work through weekly quizzes, topic tests under exam conditions, and targeted Q&A to close every gap before it compounds.

Explore our Maths Acceleration Program for students ready to work above their year level.

English tutoring Hurstville (Year 3 to Year 12)

Matrix English teachers build the analytical reading, essay structure, and close text skills that actually move marks in school assessments and HSC exams. We cover English from Year 3 all the way through to Year 12 Advanced and Standard, in a way that makes sense, even when the texts don’t.

Science tutoring Hurstville (Year 9 to Year 12)

Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for Years 9–12. Our science teachers teach every concept ahead of school, so students arrive in class already familiar with the content,  and ready to ask better questions.

Meet our Hurstville teachers

Every Matrix Hurstville teacher is a subject specialist, not a university student marking time. Our teachers hold teaching degrees or postgraduate qualifications and are hand-picked for their ability to explain hard concepts clearly, give useful feedback fast, and actually make the material interesting.

Frequently asked questions about tutoring in Hurstville

Matrix tutoring is structured as a term-based program rather than casual hourly sessions, because consistent, weekly study produces results that one-off lessons don’t. Fees vary by year level and subject.

The easiest way to get an accurate figure is to request a free trial – our team will walk you through options for your year level and subjects after your first lesson.

It depends on what you’re trying to achieve. For students who are roughly on track and want to stay ahead, one structured 1.5–2 hour session per week (plus a short home-practice routine) is often enough to see clear improvement across a term. For students closing a larger gap, or preparing for Selective School, OC or HSC exams, two sessions per week tends to produce faster, more sustainable results. Matrix teachers will give you an honest recommendation based on where you’re at, not what maximises enrolments.

Matrix Hurstville teaches students from Year 3 through to Year 12. Our primary school tutoring covers English and Maths alongside OC and Selective preparation, while our high school tutoring spans Year 7-12 across English, Maths (Standard, Advanced, Extension 1 and 2), Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Yes, and this is one of the most common things we see students work through at Matrix. Test anxiety usually comes from one of two places; not knowing the content well enough, or not having enough practice under real exam conditions. Matrix addresses both. Our weekly quizzes and topic tests are run under strict exam conditions from early in the term, so by the time the actual assessment arrives, students have already sat the same style of test a dozen times. The exam room stops feeling unfamiliar.

Not at all. Our most motivated students aren’t the ones who are falling behind;  they’re the ones who are performing solidly and want to move from solid to exceptional. Matrix is designed for students who want to work ahead of their school curriculum, build stronger exam technique, and develop the kind of independent study habits that pay off across every subject.
