Yes. The Matrix Selective Test tutoring program covers every aspect of the Selective Test thoroughly: Reading, Writing, Mathematical Reasoning, and Thinking Skills.

No. The Matrix Selective Test Preparation course teaches students a wide range of critical thinking skills that are applied and assessed across all four sections of the Selective Test: Reading, Writing, Mathematical Reasoning, and Thinking Skills.

The Thinking Skills section is one of these four components, and focuses specifically on logical and spatial reasoning.

For the best results, we recommend students begin Matrix Selective Test Preparation tutoring 12 to 18 months before the exam. This allows students to thoroughly master all four sections of the Selective School Test, while developing strong exam technique and time management skills. 

If your child has missed the earlier modules, they can catch up using the Matrix+ online course.

Term Course | NSW

Matrix classes are capped at 15 students per class, seated in a U-shaped layout to encourage participation, peer discussion, and teacher-student interaction.

Each Selective Test Preparation tutoring lesson runs for 1.5 hours and consists of Theory, Application, and Guided Exam Practice.

Student progress is tracked through weekly homework review, classroom participation, and Diagnostic Tests in Weeks 3, 6, and 9. Teachers provide verbal and written feedback to support improvement. Parents can view student progress on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS).

Students gain access to Matrix Theory Tutorial Videos on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS), which contains the same content covered in-class. Videos are paired with the Matrix Theory Book, allowing students to review lessons at home, and return to class prepared.

Holiday Course | NSW

Yes. The intensive provides comprehensive coverage across all four subtests: Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Writing. Students complete two mock tests under timed exam conditions to refine their exam and time management strategies, with teacher-led review and feedback to identify areas for improvement.

Yes. Parents receive a detailed Performance Report following the intensive. This includes raw section scores, percentile rankings against the Matrix cohort, and specific, actionable recommendations to guide your child’s final months of study.

Students should bring a pencil case (lead pencils, eraser, and sharpener), a water bottle, and a readiness to learn. All learning resources will be provided on the first day of class.

Matrix+ Online Course | NSW

Matrix+ is an online Selective Test Preparation tutoring course consisting of on-demand Theory Tutorial Videos paired with a Matrix Theory Book. It is a flexible, accessible, affordable, and self-paced alternative to Matrix on-campus tutoring.

No. Selective Test Preparation Matrix+ students can watch on-demand video tutorials anytime and anywhere. Students can pause, replay, or speed up videos, making it an accessible and flexible learning experience for all types of learners.

Students have the flexibility to complete multiple Selective Test Preparation courses at the same time. They can also enrol into past Term courses to catch up on missed content.

Selective Test Preparation students begin their Matrix+ online course on the first day of the Matrix Term. They can access all Theory Tutorial Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until the Selective Test date.
