For those of you who are in Year 12, now is a great time to start looking into university scholarships for 2017. Please see below for a list of some of the merit-based scholarships that will be on offer. This list is not exhaustive, and most universities offer equity and sports scholarships as well. Please note that the closing dates given are approximate – please monitor each respective university’s scholarship page for the exact dates once they have been announced.

|University of Sydney – Sydney Scholars Program||These scholarships are offered based on academic results and other achievements that show qualities including leadership, creativity, self-motivation and communication. They are valued at $6000-10,000 per year, for up to 5 years. Learn more at an Information Evening.||September 2016|
|University of Sydney – Sydney Scholar Chancellor’s Award||This scholarship is awarded to students who achieve an ATAR of 99.95. In addition to financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, it also delivers priority access to accommodation and leadership programs. |University of Sydney – Dux Scheme||This scheme offers duxes in New South Wales a guaranteed place at USYD, based on academic achievement and a dux nomination by their school principal.||Check with your school|
|University of New South Wales – Co-op Program||This scholarship is set up by industry partners and UNSW. It offers financial support and industry training for selected undergraduate students in business, science, engineering and built environment. It is valued at $16,750 per year, for 5 years. |University of New South Wales – Scientia Scholarship||This scholarship was established to encourage students who achieve an ATAR of 99.9+ to undertake full time study at UNSW. Recipients receive financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, mentorship, invitations to special events and the opportunity to become student ambassadors and research assistants. |University of Technology Sydney – Vice Chancellor’s Outstanding Achievement Scholarship||This prestigious scholarship is offered to the top five HSC students with a UTS UAC preference. It is valued at $12,500 per year, for the duration of their degree.||December 2016|
|University of Western Sydney – Dean’s Scholarship||The scholarship is awarded to high-achieving HSC Students who desire to enter a range of courses including Bachelor of Arts, Communication and Music. It is valued at $5000 per year, for up to four years.||N/A|
|Macquarie University – Faculty of Science and Engineering Academic Achievement Entry Scholarships||This scholarship is a entry scholarship of either $2000 or $5000 for students entering a Science or Engineering degree.||Late January 2017|
|Macquarie University – Merit Scholarship||This scholarship provides support to high achieving students. It is valued at $12,000 per year, for 5 years.||Late January 2017|
|Charles Sturt University – CSU Excellence Scholarship||This scholarship is awarded to students based on academic merit and evidence of leadership and citizenship within the community. It is valued at $5000 per year, for 5 years.||February 2017|
|Monash University – Monash Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement||This scholarship was established to support exceptionally achieving students commencing full-time study at Monash University. It is valued at $6000 per year, for the duration of the student’s degree.||N/A|
|Australian National University – National Merit Scholarship||This scholarship rewards academic excellence in secondary school studies. It provides assistance with tertiary costs in the form of $6500 per year, for up to 5 years.||N/A|
