For those of you who are in Year 12, now is a great time to start looking into university scholarships for 2017. Please see below for a list of some of the merit-based scholarships that will be on offer. This list is not exhaustive, and most universities offer equity and sports scholarships as well. Please note that the closing dates given are approximate – please monitor each respective university’s scholarship page for the exact dates once they have been announced.

University of Sydney – Sydney Scholars ProgramThese scholarships are offered based on academic results and other achievements that show qualities including leadership, creativity, self-motivation and communication. University of Sydney – Sydney Scholar Chancellor’s AwardThis scholarship is awarded to students who achieve an ATAR of 99.95. In addition to financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, it also delivers priority access to accommodation and leadership programs. Learn more at an Information Evening.

University of Sydney – Dux SchemeThis scheme offers duxes in New South Wales a guaranteed place at USYD, based on academic achievement and a dux nomination by their school principal.
  • 70+ ATAR (minimum)
  • You must list USYD as your first preference
  • Recipient of Dux award as nominated by your school principal.
Check with your school
    • If Dux nominations are received before 30 September, you will receive a conditional offer before you sit the HSC.
    • If nominations are received after 30 September, you will receive a main round offer in January.
    • If you are nominated, you will need to select at least one USYD course as your first preference.
    • Once HSC results are released, duxes will receive information about which courses they are eligible to accept (dependent on ATAR result)
University of New South Wales – Co-op ProgramThis scholarship is set up by industry partners and UNSW. It offers financial support and industry training for selected undergraduate students in business, science, engineering and built environment. It is valued at $16,750 per year, for 5 years. University of New South Wales – Scientia ScholarshipThis scholarship was established to encourage students who achieve an ATAR of 99.9+ to undertake full time study at UNSW. Recipients receive financial support of $10,000 per year for the duration of their degree, mentorship, invitations to special events and the opportunity to become student ambassadors and research assistants. University of Technology Sydney – Vice Chancellor’s Outstanding Achievement ScholarshipThis prestigious scholarship is offered to the top five HSC students with a UTS UAC preference. It is valued at $12,500 per year, for the duration of their degree.

University of Western Sydney – Dean’s ScholarshipThe scholarship is awarded to high-achieving HSC Students who desire to enter a range of courses including Bachelor of Arts, Communication and Music. It is valued at $5000 per year, for up to four years.

  • Reside in or have undertaken HSC in Greater Western Sydney
  • UWS course as their first preference
  • Minimum ATAR of 90

Macquarie University – Faculty of Science and Engineering Academic Achievement Entry ScholarshipsThis scholarship is a  entry scholarship of either $2000 or $5000 for students entering a Science or Engineering degree.

Macquarie University – Merit ScholarshipThis scholarship provides support to high achieving students. It is valued at $12,000 per year, for 5 years.

Charles Sturt University – CSU Excellence ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to students based on academic merit and evidence of leadership and citizenship within the community. It is valued at $5000 per year, for 5 years.

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Online application form includes a personal statement and documentation of your community involvement and leadership skills

Monash University – Monash Scholarship for Outstanding AchievementThis scholarship was established to support exceptionally achieving students commencing full-time study at Monash University. It is valued at $6000 per year, for the duration of the student’s degree.
  • ATAR score of 99 +
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Completed Australian Year 12 or IB
  • No previous tertiary study
  • Minimum distinction average/semester required
N/A
  • No application required – all eligible applicants will automatically be considered
Australian National University – National Merit ScholarshipThis scholarship rewards academic excellence in secondary school studies. It provides assistance with tertiary costs in the form of $6500 per year, for up to 5 years.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • ATAR 99.75- 99.85
  • Completed Year 12
  • No previous tertiary study
  • Must put one ANU program as a first-third UAC preference

  • No application required – all eligible applicants will automatically be considered
