In the past, each school with an Opportunity Class (OC) had a minimum entry score that parents used to determine the OC school ranking in NSW. A minimum entry score was the lowest score a student needed to get into that school’s OC program.
But, as of 2022, the NSW Department of Education no longer publishes minimum entry scores for OC schools.
The NSW Department of Education wanted students and parents to focus less on ‘chasing a number’ and more on their ranking and overall performance.
Even though the old scores are gone, there are still helpful ways to compare schools. You can look at:
The academic performance of each school using NAPLAN rankings
How many OC places the school offers
How far the school is from your home
This gives you a better idea of which schools might be a good fit.
This table lists all the schools offering Opportunity Classes (OC) in NSW, including the OC school ranking.
The top section of the table shows schools that ranked in the top 200 schools in NAPLAN results. These schools are ordered from highest to lowest based on their most recent academic performance.
The remaining schools didn’t place in the top 200 for NAPLAN, so they are listed by places available.
