Frequently asked questions

HSC Tutoring at Matrix | NSW

Matrix Education runs one term ahead of the NSW school curriculum to give students a head start. The new academic year begins in September each year, starting with our Holiday Accelerated Courses. By learning concepts in advance, students build stronger foundations and approach school lessons with greater confidence. This proactive approach improves long-term academic outcomes and reduces exam stress.

All Matrix Year 11 – 12 teachers are experienced educators who have degrees in Secondary Education, English-related, Maths-related, or Science-related disciplines. Our Secondary experts are knowledgeable, qualified, and have the real teaching experience necessary to explain concepts clearly whilst making learning engaging and enjoyable.

Yes. Year 11 – 12 students new to Matrix can attend the first lesson risk free at a Matrix campus with our First Lesson Money-Back Guarantee. If you choose not to enrol, there is no cost and no obligation to continue. Learn more here.

Holiday Accelerated Courses at Matrix | NSW

Holiday tutoring programs offer students a unique opportunity to strengthen their skills and gain a competitive edge during the school break. These holiday programs include daily three-hour lessons designed to enhance practical knowledge and boost confidence in various academic areas. Many students find that enrolling in a well-structured school holiday program not only helps with consistent study but also reinforces important skills and subject matter before it’s taught at school.

The Matrix holiday accelerated courses are suitable for Year 11 – 12 students who want to strengthen core skills, gain confidence, consolidate key concepts, and get ahead of their peers. We also recommend the holiday courses for students who want to reinforce their understanding through revision courses, or free up their term with acceleration courses.

The Year 11 and 12 Holiday accelerated courses are 3 hour, focused programs which enables students to complete the entire upcoming term’s content in just 5 or 9 days. This condensed, structured format provides students with a strategic head start, maximising continued learning and retention while freeing up term time for ongoing revision. Some courses have the option to revise the previous term’s content.

For Year 11 English Advanced specifically, the course is a 5 day program which targets one key senior English skill or topic.

The Term course develops skills gradually across several weeks, allowing time for deeper learning, extended practice, and steady improvement.

Our Year 11  – 12 Holiday accelerated courses are available at all our Matrix NSW campuses: Castle Hill, Chatswood, Epping, HurstvilleParramatta, Strathfield, and Sydney City. Class availability can be found in the table above.

Matrix offers the following Year 11 – 12 courses during the upcoming holidays:

  • English Standard (Year 12)
  • English Advanced
  • Maths Advanced
  • Maths Extension 1
  • Maths Extension 2 (Year 12)
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

These English, Maths, and Science courses (excl. Year 11 English Advanced) are also available as weekly Term Courses at Matrix campuses in Sydney, and as self-paced online lessons via Matrix+.

In October 2026, all courses will be focused on acceleration, as students begin 2027 content.

Students will have the opportunity to revise the previous Matrix term’s content in January 2027. These courses will help students consolidate their learning, address knowledge gaps, and reinforce key concepts before learning new content.

Yes, students are welcome to enrol in multiple courses for a more comprehensive learning experience. However, each holiday course is intensive and requires a significant time commitment both inside and outside the classroom. We recommend students carefully consider their workload to maintain balance and ensure they can get the most out of each course.

Yes. Students are welcome to enrol in Matrix Year 11 and 12 holiday courses, even if their school placement has not yet been confirmed.
