Year 9 Maths Acceleration tutoring: Prepare early for HSC Success

Eligibility

Who it's for

The Year 9 Maths Acceleration Course is designed for mathematically talented students who want to extend their learning and gain a clear academic advantage. It is ideal for students who meet one or more of the following:

• Consistently achieve above 85% in Mathematics and are ready for more advanced work
• Are in or preparing for accelerated or extension maths streams at school
• Aim to complete the HSC Mathematics Advanced course early as part of an acceleration pathway
• Want to prepare early for Selective School entry and extension pathways in Years 9 and 10

Entry Requirement

To make sure every student is learning at the right pace and is challenged appropriately, all students complete an entry test before joining the Maths Acceleration Course.

Application Process

1. Submit an Application
Complete the online application form and provide your child’s recent school report or relevant documents.

2. Book the Entrance Test
Within 48 hours, our Customer Experience Team will contact you to schedule your child for the next available Maths Acceleration Entrance Test (tests run every 2 weeks).

3. Receive Results and Next Steps
After the test, our Academic Team reviews your child’s performance and will contact you within 7 days with the results and next steps for enrolment.

Approach

How it works

Structured Acceleration

Across 9 weeks each term, students complete the full next term’s content ahead of school. By the end of the year, they have completed both the Year 9 and Year 10 curriculum, which is essential preparation for students who plan to begin HSC Mathematics Advanced in Year 10 as part of an acceleration pathway. This fast-track approach gives students confidence and familiarity with advanced concepts before they appear in class or assessments.

Teaching Approach

Each weekly lesson is taught by experienced teachers using clear explanations, step-by-step worked examples, and explicit instruction. Students then apply their learning through guided practice, weekly quizzes, and exam-style homework that is collected, marked, and returned with feedback.

Content Mix

Lessons go beyond the school curriculum, covering syllabus content in depth while introducing advanced, non-routine problem solving. Each session balances conceptual mastery with practical application, sharpening students’ ability to solve unfamiliar, exam-style questions confidently.

Course Progression

Each week builds on the last, following a deliberate sequence of topics that extends from foundational understanding into higher-order concepts. Regular quizzes, topic tests, and workshops provide checkpoints and targeted support. By the end of the year, students will have completed both Year 9 and Year 10 mathematics, giving them a strong head start on senior pathways.
