How our Year 9 English online tutoring works

Learn at your own pace with the support you need. Work through your Matrix Theory Book with 8 clear video lessons taught by experienced Matrix teachers.
2. Consolidate learning with homework
Gain practical experience and consolidate learning with weekly writing homework and quizzes.
3. Ask questions on the Q&A boards
Address gaps in learning by asking questions on the student Q&A board to receive a personalised written or video response from a subject matter expert.
4. Test and analyse learning
Build confidence for school assessments with the end of term Topic Test. Assess your knowledge and skills by completing the test under timed conditions at home.

Matrix Year 9 English teachers deliver a structured and engaging learning experience through instructional and interactive teaching.
Program
The Matrix Year 9 English tutoring program comprehensively covers all topics from the new Victorian English Curriculum. It extends students’ abilities and helps them develop strong foundations in all aspects of Level 9 English.
Matrix teaches one term ahead of the school program with Term 1 starting in October each year. This means students learn ahead and gain a competitive advantage over their school peers when the topic is revisited at their school.
On Campus Course
All Matrix classes seat a maximum of 18 students arranged in U-shape formation to support an interactive and engaging student learning environment.
Each Year 9 English tutoring lesson is 90 minutes long and consists of Theory, Application and Guided Writing Practice.
Matrix provides students access to Online Theory Lesson Videos for missed lessons and revisions. The video lessons are easy to follow and paired with the Matrix Theory Book.
Term courses are structured, in-person courses that cover the contents weekly over 9 weeks during the school term. The weekly lesson structure helps students learn theory content timely. It’s an effective learning option if you prefer to learn in alignment with the school learning pace.
Holiday Courses are fun and engaging intensive writing courses that focuses on extending students’ writing skills over 5 daily lessons during the school holidays. The daily lesson structure helps students adopt an effective writing routine.
Matrix+ Online Courses
Matrix+ is an online course consisting of video lessons paired with Matrix Theory Books. It’s accessible, more affordable and flexible compared to Matrix On-Campus courses. It’s an effective learning option if you prefer to learn at your own pace.
No, you can learn at any time! Matrix+ lessons are pre-recorded to ensure the highest quality delivery for all types of learners! Our detailed video lessons allow you to view and follow the lesson at your own pace – pause, replay, or speed up videos for an on-demand learning experience.
Pause to view, take a break, take notes in your Theory Book, and rewind to view parts of the lessons again.
Students will still be able to access Theory Lesson Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until the end of the calendar year.
Matrix Theory Books will be mailed to your delivery address via Australia Post.
