Dr Alex Argyros
BAdvSc(Hons) PhD

Alex is currently the Science Coordinator at Matrix Education. He has been teaching at Matrix since 2004 and has had over ten years experience teaching science and physics at a secondary and tertiary level, developing course resources, and supervising honours and PhD students. He is an Honorary Professor  at the University of Sydney, and a Sessional Lecturer at New York University Sydney. He has published 250 research articles in scientific journals and conferences and won various prizes for his research in photonics, including the Australian Institute of Physics Bragg Gold Medal, and the NSW Tall Poppy Award.

Alexa is a current PhD Candidate in Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney. In addition to teaching English at Matrix, Alexa tutors Youth and Youth Culture at the University of Sydney and casually tutors for the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme, working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Dr Amandeep Kaur
BSc MSc PhD

Amandeep was awarded her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Sydney. Whilst she was undertaking her PhD at the University of Sydney, she was a Postgraduate Teaching Fellow in Chemistry. She is currently a post doctorate fellow at the University of New South Wales. Amandeep is the recipient of the prestigious University of Sydney World Scholars Scholarship and has been awarded the Agnes Campbell Postgraduate Prize from the University of Sydney.

Amy is a current PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of New South Wales. She has taught and lectured at a tertiary level in Australia (University of New South Wales), USA and France. She tutored at the Sydney Story Factory from 2012 where she worked with students aged between 7 to 17 to spark their creativity and to find their voice.

Dr Andrew Try

Dr Try was awarded his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Sydney in 1995. Prior to commencing his teaching career, he has worked as a post-doctoral Fellow at Cambridge University (United Kingdom), University of Sydney and the University of Texas (USA). Dr Try has lectured at Macquarie University for 17 years and held the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science. More recently he has coordinated and instructed Organic Chemistry for NYU Sydney.

Ariane studied a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney and a Masters in Teaching at the University of Technology Sydney. Whilst undertaking her studies, Ariane has been the recipient of the USYD Roads and Traffic Authority Scholarship in Civil Engineering  and the USYD Summer School Scholarship. She has had extensive teaching and presenting experience ranging from working with primary and high school students, presenting group client lessons for Apple and presenting live radio shows on FBi 94.5FM. In addition to teaching, Ariane also works as a researcher for the ABC science program Catalyst and performs as a DJ.

Ashley has 7 years of experience in Banking and Finance industry and has worked in Strategy, Human Resource Management, Traded and Non-Traded Market Risk.

Chris Black completed his PhD in English literature at the University of Sydney in August 2014. His research focussed on Scandinavian elements in James Joyce’s novel ‘Finnegans Wake.’ Chris has taught in the Department of English at the University of Sydney, and has been teaching at Matrix Education since 2013. His research interests are in comparative literature (English, Norwegian and Modern Hebrew) and literary theory.

DJ has over 15 years experience teaching Physics and Chemistry at a secondary level. He is the founder of Matrix Education, the author of the Matrix Physics program, course materials and assessments and the co-author of the Matrix Chemistry program, course materials and assessments. DJ has worked with the Australian Space Research Institute (ASRI) on Design and Structural Analysis of Micro-satellites for his thesis.

She has been teaching high school Maths and Science since 2010 and has previously held the position of an academic Team Leader at Matrix Education. Teaching at Matrix has developed Eva’s passion for education, which has extended abroad to Japan, where she taught English to Japanese children for a year in 2013 which then lead to her  pursuing her Masters in Teaching at University of Sydney. Eva is the recipient of the USYD Master of Teaching Scholarship in Mathematics and Physics.  Eva is a contributor and editor of the Matrix Maths resources and is a member of the Mathematics Association of NSW (MANSW).

Michelle is the Senior Chemistry Teacher at Matrix Education, and has been tutoring Chemistry and Mathematics for almost 15 years. As an Honours student and whilst completing her PhD at the University of Sydney, she worked as a laboratory demonstrator in the School of Chemistry and as a Postgraduate Teaching Fellow taking first year tutorials. Her awards include: The University Medal in Chemistry, from The University of Sydney. Michelle also runs a popular cosmetic science blog.

Her postgraduate research explored the role of priestesses in Ancient Rome and the intersection between religious thinking and political action. Peta’s research interests include belief systems and the role of women in societies. Peta has over six years experience teaching Secondary English at Matrix Education. Peta has strong experience with Years 7-11, HSC Advanced English, and HSC ESL English. Peta has published her creative writing and scholarly articles in a variety of magazines and educational journals. In her free time, Peta writes poetry and paints abstracts of outer space.

Siehoon graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Advanced Science is and is currently studying a Doctor of Medicine. Siehoon has been teaching Maths since 2013.
