Matrix

Others

Teachers

Taught by real experts. All Matrix teachers have extensive classroom experience. They know their subject and how to teach it.
Often uni students with little or no real teaching experience. Many struggle to explain complex ideas clearly.

Targeted Program

Our programs are mapped to the NSW syllabus and structured to build strong study habits every week.
Many follow an ad-hoc, reactive approach with no set curriculum or end goal.

Resources

Matrix students receive a full suite of resources written by academics and education researchers. Includes online access to extra quizzes and revision tools.
Usually rely on students to bring problems or use generic textbooks. Limited or no original resources.

Assessments

Every 3 weeks, students sit diagnostic tests under exam conditions. Parents get clear insights on performance against the Matrix cohort.
Few formal assessments. No benchmarking. Feedback is inconsistent or non-existent.

Reporting

Parents and students can track academic progress with results from quizzes, topic tests, and diagnostics all in one place.
No real system in place. Most can’t tell if students are improving—or falling behind.

Learning Management System (LMS)

The Matrix LMS App helps students stay on top of their studies with lesson videos, progress tracking, and online practice questions.
Many lack any digital platform or structured online support.

Theory Lesson Videos

Students get 24/7 access to Theory Lesson Videos—great for revision and learning on the go, anytime.
No support outside the classroom. Once the lesson ends, so does the help.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Matrix caters to both advanced learners and students needing support. The courses are designed to challenge high-performing students through structured, in-depth programs that build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. At the same time, for students who may need support in foundational areas like English and Maths, Matrix offers dedicated courses to strengthen those skills.

Matrix provides comprehensive preparation for both OC (Opportunity Class) and Selective School Tests through structured, long-term programs:

  • OC Test Prep: 12-month course starting in Year 3, covering

    • Reading (or verbal reasoning)
    • Mathematical reasoning
    • Thinking skills (involving spatial and logical reasoning)
  • Selective Test Prep: 15-month course starting in Year 4, covering five key components, including:

    • Reading,
    • Mathematical Reasoning,
    • Spatial Reasoning,
    • Logical Reasoning, and
    • Writing.

Both programs emphasise critical thinking and problem-solving across all relevant sections of the exams, ensuring students are thoroughly prepared to sit the tests.

Progress updates are provided every three weeks through Diagnostic Reviews. Your child will complete 3 Diagnostic Tests per term, which assess their proficiency across test areas and benchmark their performance against the cohort average. Each diagnostic review includes a detailed report so you can track your child’s readiness for the OC or Selective School Test and make informed decisions about any areas needing additional support.
