Holiday Course
The Year 6 English Holiday Intensive is a short, 4 day focused program that targets one writing style at a time (Imagination, Persuasive, or Informative) alongside Selective test preparation. This program refines Stage 3 English skills and prepares students for Year 7 English expectations, including advanced text structures, tone control, and writing for purpose. The Term course develops skills gradually across several weeks, allowing time for deeper learning, extended practice, and steady improvement.
Yes. While not a Selective test preparation program, the Matrix Year 6 English Holiday course in October strengthens clarity, structure, and persuasion skills essential for success in the Selective school entry exam.
Students complete the ‘Selective School Writing Test Intensive’ in January and April 2026 of the Year 6 English Holiday course.
Students should bring a pencil case, water bottle, and a readiness to learn. All other learning resources are provided on the first day of class.
Term Course
Matrix classes are capped at 15 students per class, seated in a U-shaped layout to encourage participation, peer discussion, and teacher-student interaction.
Each Year 6 English tutoring lesson runs for 1.5 hours and consists of Theory, Application, and Guided Writing Practice.
Student progress is tracked through weekly homework review, classroom participation, and Diagnostic Tests in Weeks 3, 6, and 9. Teachers provide verbal and written feedback to support improvement. Parents can view student progress on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS).
Students gain access to Matrix Theory Lesson Videos on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS), which contains the same content covered in-class. Videos are paired with the Matrix Theory Book, allowing students to review lessons at home, and return to class prepared.
Matrix+ Online Course
Matrix+ is an online Year 6 English tutoring course consisting of Theory Lesson Videos paired with a Matrix Theory Book. It is a flexible, accessible, affordable, and self-paced alternative to Matrix on-campus tutoring.
Matrix+ lessons are pre-recorded video tutorials, ensuring consistent and high-quality lesson delivery for all types of learners. Students can pause, replay, or speed up videos at any time, for an on-demand learning experience.
Students have the flexibility to complete multiple Year 6 English courses at the same time. They can also enrol into past Term courses to review lessons or catch up on missed content.
Year 6 English students begin the Matrix+ online course on the first day of the Matrix Term. They can access all Theory Lesson Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until 31st December of the enrolment year. For example, students enrolled in 2026 Term 1 (October 2025) will have access until 31 December 2026.
