No. The Matrix Selective Test Preparation course teaches students a wide range of critical thinking skills that are applied and assessed across all four sections of the Selective Test: Reading, Writing, Mathematical Reasoning, and Thinking Skills.
The Thinking Skills section is one of these four components, and focuses specifically on logical and spatial reasoning.
For the best results, we recommend students begin Matrix Selective Test Preparation tutoring 12 to 18 months before the exam. This allows students to thoroughly master all four sections of the Selective School Test, while developing strong exam technique and time management skills.
If your child has missed the earlier modules, they can catch up using the Matrix+ online course.
Holiday Course | NSW
This holiday program covers the same high-impact content as our regular term courses. Students who have already completed Matrix Term 2 (January) are generally not advised to enrol to avoid repeating familiar material.
No. This upcoming April holiday course is a targeted revision module focusing exclusively on Mathematical and Spatial Reasoning. It is designed for students who want to master these core foundations before moving into broader test preparation.
Yes. Parents receive a detailed Performance Report following the intensive. This includes raw scores from the Day 4 mock tests and specific recommendations to guide your child’s future study.
Students receive a physical Matrix theory book featuring worked examples, as well as three standalone Mock test booklets for the Day 4 simulations. Additionally, they gain full access to the Matrix Learning Management System (LMS) for digital practice.
Students should bring a pencil case (lead pencils, eraser, and sharpener), a water bottle, a healthy snack for the break, and their Matrix theory book (provided on Day 1).
Yes. While we encourage full attendance, students can use the Matrix Learning Management System (LMS) to review digital resources and practice questions to ensure they stay on track with the mathematical concepts covered in class.

Matrix classes are capped at 15 students per class, seated in a U-shaped layout to encourage participation, peer discussion, and teacher-student interaction.
Each Selective Test Preparation tutoring lesson runs for 1.5 hours and consists of Theory, Application, and Guided Exam Practice.
Student progress is tracked through weekly homework review, classroom participation, and Diagnostic Tests in Weeks 3, 6, and 9. Teachers provide verbal and written feedback to support improvement. Parents can view student progress on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS).
Students gain access to Matrix Theory Tutorial Videos on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS), which contains the same content covered in-class. Videos are paired with the Matrix Theory Book, allowing students to review lessons at home, and return to class prepared.
Matrix+ Online Course | NSW
Matrix+ is an online Selective Test Preparation tutoring course consisting of on-demand Theory Tutorial Videos paired with a Matrix Theory Book. It is a flexible, accessible, affordable, and self-paced alternative to Matrix on-campus tutoring.
No. Selective Test Preparation Matrix+ students can watch on-demand video tutorials anytime and anywhere. Students can pause, replay, or speed up videos, making it an accessible and flexible learning experience for all types of learners.
Students have the flexibility to complete multiple Selective Test Preparation courses at the same time. They can also enrol into past Term courses to catch up on missed content.
Selective Test Preparation students begin their Matrix+ online course on the first day of the Matrix Term. They can access all Theory Tutorial Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until the Selective Test date.
