I used to find homework and school work difficult. It took me so much time to get it all done. After joining Matrix, I can keep up with school work a lot quicker.
He loves to study and understands the topics much better. His performance has increased and became better.
Thinking Skills courses helped my child build profound knowledge for OC test (especially for Thinking Skills). My child is now attending Selective School Test Preparation course and it has been helpful and nurtured my child’s knowledge for the selective test. Thank you!
I think Matrix Education courses give me the best form of learning. I love how the teacher explains things in class!
My son tells me he enjoys going to his Matrix Education class. He said the teacher is nice and helpful. The online resources we have access to are also great!

Who are Matrix Year 4 English Teachers?
All Matrix Year 4 English tutoring teachers are experienced educators who possess degrees in Primary Education or English-related disciplines. Our English experts are knowledgeable, qualified, and have the real teaching experience necessary to explain concepts clearly whilst making learning engaging and enjoyable for young learners.
What teaching styles do Matrix teachers use?
Matrix Year 4 English teachers deliver a structured and engaging primary English tutoring experience through a mix of direct instructional and interactive teaching. All Matrix Year 4 English tutoring courses include high-quality resources designed to provide students and teachers with proven methods for vocabulary building, reading comprehension, and writing development.
Is the Matrix Year 4 English tutoring program mapped to the NSW syllabus?
Yes, the Matrix Year 4 English course thoroughly covers the new NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) English Syllabus. The course helps students develop strong foundations in all aspects of English, ensuring students are confident and well-prepared at school.
Does the program align with my child's school program?
Matrix teaches English one term ahead of the school curriculum, with Year 4 Term 1 starting in October while students are still in Year 3. This means students learn in advance, gain a competitive advantage over their school peers, and reinforce their understanding and confidence when the topic is revisited at school.
Can the tutoring course improve my child's marks at school?
Yes. Parents consistently report that their child’s confidence and marks improve two terms after enrolling in the Matrix Year 4 English course. Our combination of expert teaching, structured learning, and ongoing feedback helps students achieve stronger school results.
How is the Matrix Holiday course different from the Matrix Term course?
The Year 4 English Holiday Intensive is a short, 4 day focused program that targets one writing style at a time (Imaginative, Persuasive, or Informative). This program builds mastery in the writing modes while strengthening the student’s grammar, vocabulary, and editing skills. The Term course develops skills gradually across several weeks, allowing time for deeper learning, extended practice, and steady improvement.
Will this help my child with OC or Selective readiness?
Yes. While not an OC or Selective test preparation program, the Matrix Year 4 English Holiday course develops the clear, structured writing skills essential for success in the Opportunity Class (OC) test and later selective school entry exams.
What should my child bring to class?
Students should bring a pencil case, water bottle, and a readiness to learn. All other learning resources are provided on the first day of class.
What is the class size?
Matrix classes are capped at 15 students per class, seated in a U-shaped layout to encourage participation, peer discussion, and teacher-student interaction.
How long is each Matrix Year 4 English tutoring lesson?
Each Year 4 English tutoring lesson runs for 1.5 hours and consists of Theory, Application, and Guided Writing Practice.
How is student progress monitored?
Student progress is tracked through weekly homework review, classroom participation, and Diagnostic Tests in Weeks 3, 6, and 9. Teachers provide verbal and written feedback to support improvement. Parents can view student progress on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS).
If my child misses a Year 4 English lesson, how can they catch up?
Students gain access to Matrix Theory Lesson Videos on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS), which contains the same content covered in-class. Videos are paired with the Matrix Theory Book, allowing students to review lessons at home, and return to class prepared.
What is Matrix+?
Matrix+ is an online Year 4 English tutoring course consisting of Theory Lesson Videos paired with a Matrix Theory Book. It is a flexible, accessible, affordable, and self-paced alternative to Matrix on-campus tutoring.
Are Matrix+ lessons live or pre-recorded?
Matrix+ lessons are pre-recorded video tutorials, ensuring consistent and high-quality lesson delivery for all types of learners. Students can pause, replay, or speed up videos at any time, for an on-demand learning experience.
Which Year 4 English courses can my child complete on Matrix+?
Students have the flexibility to complete multiple Year 4 English courses at the same time. They can also enrol into past Term courses to review lessons or catch up on missed content.
How long will my child have access to the Matrix+ course?
Year 4 English students begin the Matrix+ online course on the first day of the Matrix Term. They can access all Theory Lesson Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until 31st December of the enrolment year. For example, students enrolled in 2026 Term 1 (October 2025) will have access until 31 December 2026.
