Address gaps in learning by asking questions on the student Q&A board to receive individual teacher support within 1 working day.

Matrix teaches English one term ahead of the school curriculum, with Year 3 Term 1 starting in October while students are still in Year 2. Holiday Course
The Year 3 English Holiday Intensive is a short, 4 day focused program that targets one writing style at a time (Imaginative, Persuasive, or Informative). This program builds on the basics while introducing students to more structured writing approaches. The Term course develops skills gradually across several weeks, allowing time for deeper learning, extended practice, and steady improvement.
Yes. While not an OC test preparation program, the Matrix Year 3 English Holiday course develops the clear, structured writing skills essential for success in the Opportunity Class (OC) test and later selective school entry exams.
Students should bring a pencil case, water bottle, and a readiness to learn. All other learning resources are provided on the first day of class.
Term Course
Matrix classes are capped at 15 students per class, seated in a U-shaped layout to encourage participation, peer discussion, and teacher-student interaction.
Each Year 3 English tutoring lesson runs for 1.5 hours and consists of Reading and Writing Theory, exam-style practice questions, and guided writing practice.
Student progress is tracked through weekly homework review, classroom participation, and Diagnostic Tests in Weeks 3, 6, and 9. Teachers provide verbal and written feedback to support improvement. Parents can view student progress on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS).
Students gain access to Matrix Theory Lesson Videos on our Matrix Learning Management System (LMS), which contains the same content covered in-class. Videos are paired with the Matrix Theory Book, allowing students to review lessons at home, and return to class prepared.
Matrix+ Online Courses
Matrix+ is an online Year 3 English tutoring course consisting of Theory Lesson Videos paired with a Matrix Theory Book. It is a flexible, accessible, affordable, and self-paced alternative to Matrix on-campus tutoring.
Matrix+ lessons are pre-recorded video tutorials, ensuring consistent and high-quality lesson delivery for all types of learners. Students can pause, replay, or speed up videos at any time, for an on-demand learning experience.
Students have the flexibility to complete multiple Year 3 English courses at the same time. They can also enrol into past Term courses to review lessons or catch up on missed content.
Year 3 English students begin the Matrix+ online course on the first day of the Matrix Term. They can access all Theory Lesson Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until 31st December of the enrolment year. For example, students enrolled in 2026 Term 1 (October 2025) will have access until 31 December 2026.
