Year 10 Maths Acceleration tutoring: Fast-Track to HSC Excellence

Eligibility

Who it's for

The Year 10 Maths Acceleration Course is designed for mathematically talented students who want to extend their learning and gain a clear academic advantage. It is ideal for students who meet one or more of the following:

• Have completed the Matrix Year 9 Maths Acceleration Course and are ready to progress further
• Are currently in or preparing for an acceleration or extension stream at school
• Aim to sit the HSC Mathematics Advanced or Extension 1 exams in Year 11
• Aspire to pursue Extension 2 Mathematics in Year 12

Entry Requirement

To make sure every student is learning at the right pace and is challenged appropriately, all students complete an entry test before joining the Maths Acceleration Course.

Application Process

1. Submit an Application
Complete the online application form and provide your child’s recent school report or relevant documents.

2. Book the Entrance Test
Within 48 hours, our Customer Experience Team will contact you to schedule your child for the next available Maths Acceleration Entrance Test (tests run every 2 weeks).

3. Receive Results and Next Steps
After the test, our Academic Team reviews your child’s performance and will contact you within 7 days with the results and next steps for enrolment.

How it works

Structured Acceleration

Across 9 weeks each term, students complete the full Year 11 Mathematics Extension 1 syllabus while still in Year 10. This acceleration pathway is essential for students aiming to sit the HSC Mathematics Advanced or Extension 1 exams early, and for those planning to continue into Extension 2 in senior years.

Teaching Approach

Each weekly lesson is led by experienced teachers using clear explanations, step-by-step worked examples, and explicit instruction. Students apply their learning through scaffolded practice, weekly quizzes, and exam-style homework that is collected, marked, and returned with feedback.

Content Mix

Lessons cover the Extension 1 syllabus in depth while reinforcing fluency in algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Each session balances conceptual mastery with exam-style application, ensuring students can confidently transfer knowledge to complex, non-routine problems.

Course Progression

Each week builds on the last, following a carefully sequenced program that moves from core concepts to higher-order applications.
