Still unsure? Here are answers to some common questions from parents.
What is the Matrix Selective School Mock Test?
It’s a full-length, grade-calibrated mock test designed by Matrix teachers to reflect the actual Selective School Placement Test. It covers all four components and is sat under real test conditions.
My child is in Year 5. Will the test be tailored to my child’s year level?
Yes. Year 5 students sit mock exams calibrated to their grade, ensuring the content is age-appropriate and aligned with the actual test format.
How long does the test take?
The Selective School mock test runs for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on your child’s grade. Students will be given a short break between each section of the test.
Is the Matrix Selective School Mock Test online or on paper?
The Matrix Selective School Mock Test is completed on paper. While the official Selective School Placement Test is conducted online, we use a paper format to ensure students are assessed without the risk of technical issues or unfamiliar digital interfaces. This allows us to provide a more accurate, distraction-free measure of their readiness.
How much does it cost?
The Matrix Selective School Mock Test and personalised readiness report are free. There’s no obligation to enrol in a course afterwards.
What’s included in the readiness report?
You’ll receive a detailed breakdown of your child’s performance across the test components, including their strengths, areas to improve and suggested next steps.
Can I speak to someone about my child’s results?
Yes. After the test, you’ll be offered a free academic consultation with a subject-matter expert who will walk you through the report and provide personalised advice.
What should my child bring on the day?
Students will need to bring pencils, an eraser, and a water bottle.
