Teaching Approach
Each lesson is taught by expert English teachers who break down complex skills into clear, step-by-step strategies. Students learn through exemplar texts, model responses, and proven writing frameworks, then practise applying these techniques with targeted feedback to refine their work.
Content Mix
Every session blends guided learning with practice. Students not only learn the rules of strong writing but also develop the discipline of applying them consistently across different tasks, helping them write with precision and confidence.
5-Day Sequencing
Over five consecutive days, skills are developed progressively from foundational principles to advanced application. By the end of the course, students leave with a stronger command of the skill, polished work samples, and confidence to tackle school and HSC assessments.

Who are Matrix Year 11 English Units 1/2 teachers?
All Matrix Year 11 English Units 1/2 teachers are experienced educators who possess degrees in Secondary Education or English-related disciplines. Our English experts are knowledgeable, qualified, and have the real teaching experience necessary to explain concepts clearly whilst making learning engaging and enjoyable for senior students.
How do Matrix teachers teach Year 11 English Units 1/2?
Matrix Year 11 English Units 1/2 teachers deliver a structured and engaging secondary English tutoring experience through a mix of direct instructional and interactive teaching. All Matrix Year 11 English Units 1/2 tutoring courses include high-quality resources designed to provide students and teachers with proven methods for textual analysis, essay writing, comparative responses, and imaginative writing.
Does the Matrix Year 11 English Units 1/2 course follow the VIC school syllabus?
Yes, the Matrix Year 10 English course thoroughly covers the new Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) English Syllabus. The course helps students develop strong foundations in all aspects of English, ensuring students are confident and well-prepared at school.
Will the course match what my child is learning at school?
Matrix teaches English Units 1/2 one term ahead of the school curriculum, with Year 11 Term 1 starting in October while students are still in Year 10. This means students learn in advance, gain a competitive advantage over their school peers, and reinforce their understanding and confidence when the topic is revisited at school.
How is the Matrix Holiday course different from the Matrix Term course?
The English Units 1/2 Holiday Intensive is a 5 day focused program which targets one key senior English writing framework (Comparative, Evaluative, or Imaginative Responses). The program is designed to build the core analytical and writing skills that are essential for senior English success.
The Term course develops skills gradually across several weeks, allowing time for deeper learning, regular practice, and steady improvement.
Should my child enrol in both the Holiday and Term course?
For best results, yes. The Year 11 English Units 1/2 Term course builds foundational knowledge over several weeks. The Writing Skills Holiday course complements this by teaching supporting writing skills in a concentrated format, allowing students to reinforce their abilities. Many families enrol in both to ensure their child masters the content and identifies areas for improvement.
What should my child bring to class?
Students should bring a pencil case, water bottle, and a readiness to learn. All other learning resources are provided on the first day of class.
What is the class size?
All Matrix classes seat a maximum of 15 students arranged in U-shape formation to support an interactive and engaging student learning environment.
If my child misses a lesson, what can they do to catchup?
Matrix provides students access online Theory Lesson Videos for missed lessons and revisions. The video lessons are easy to follow and paired with the Matrix Theory Book.
What is Matrix+?
Matrix+ is an online course consisting of video lessons paired with Matrix Theory Books. It’s accessible, more affordable and flexible compared to Matrix On-Campus courses. It’s an effective learning option if you prefer to learn at your own pace.
Is the online lesson live streamed classes?
No. Matrix+ lessons are pre-recorded to ensure the highest quality delivery for all types of learners! Our detailed video lessons allow you to view and follow the lesson at your own pace. Pause to view, take a break, take notes in your Theory Book, and rewind to view parts of the lessons again.
How long do I have access to a Matrix+ course?
Students will still be able to access Theory Lesson Videos, Q&A Discussion Boards, and online resources until the end of the calendar year.
How will I receive the Matrix+ Theory Book?
Matrix Theory Books will be mailed to your delivery address via Australia Post.
