Overview
The Matrix Year 12 English Standard Term Course runs over 9 weeks each term, with structured 3-hour weekly lessons aligned to the NSW Stage 6 English syllabus.
Students learn the same content taught at school in just in time, gaining clarity and confidence through explicit instruction, guided practice, and exam-style tasks. Each term focuses on a specific module Common Module, Module A, Module B, or Module C, with lessons tailored to the prescribed texts and assessment requirements.
Through regular writing practice, model responses, and targeted feedback, students refine their ability to analyse texts, construct sustained arguments, and adapt writing styles across imaginative, discursive, persuasive, and reflective modes. Diagnostic tasks and end-of-term assessments provide both students and parents with clear visibility on progress and areas for improvement.
By the end of the course, students have developed stronger analytical skills, exam-ready writing techniques, and the confidence to perform at their best in school assessments, Trials, and the HSC exam.

The English course is so well designed. We are exposed to many different text types, allowing us to prepare for any possible exam question that could come up. My teacher also helped me work towards improving my writing by pinpointing areas of improvement.
Mount Saint Joseph, Milperra
Matrix was honestly one of the best tutoring places I have ever been to. It was only through the experienced tutors and their brilliant guidance I was able to achieve Band 6’s in all my subjects and achieve a 99+ ATAR. I thank you Matrix and I cannot be anymore grateful.
Matrix English courses help to develop a balance between the different aspects of English: teachers establish a strong understanding of rubric requirements before guiding us through a deep understanding of the text. Then we are guided through writing effective responses with feedback.
Sydney Boys High School
I found the Matrix English term course useful in developing my knowledge of the text as well as its context. I also found it was helpful because you could get extra feedback from your teachers!
