The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9. These annual assessments undertaken by students nationwide test essential skills such as reading, writing, spelling and numeracy.

What is NAPLAN?

Students in Year 3 and 5, sit four tests including:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  • Numeracy

Students in Years 7 and 9, sit five tests including:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  • Numeracy – Calculator allowed test
  • Numeracy – Non-calculator test
