Applications for the Matrix Education Scholarship open annually for Year 10 and 11 students around July/August.
Applications must include:

Complete copies of the student’s two most recent school reports, with no omissions.

A video essay submission, so we can e-meet you.

Video Essay Submission

Video essays should answer:

  1. Student introduction (name, year, school)
  2. Tell us about your proudest achievement/s from the last 12 months.
  3. What is personally important to you as a student today?
  4. What is one thing about you that makes you the next Matrix Scholarship Student?

Submission guidelines:

  1. Video submissions should not exceed 3 minutes
  2. File name must be the applicant’s full name and must be in .mov or .mp4 format (eg. JohnCitizen.mp4).
  3. File must be uploaded to Google Drive or Dropbox and the URL link to be entered into the online application below. If you are encountering issues copying and pasting the URL link into the form below, you can alternatively email the link to hr@matrix.edu.au.
  4. Ensure the file can be viewed and downloaded by hr@matrix.edu.au. If the file cannot be viewed or downloaded during the application and assessment period, the application will be deemed ineligible for consideration.
  5. Video must feature the applicant speaking directly to the camera and be edited and produced only by the applicant.

Application Guidelines

  1. Students must be currently enrolled in Year 10 or 11 at a school that is registered, accredited, and recognised by NESA and currently reside in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
  2. Applications must be submitted online by Monday 28 August 2023 at 8:00pm AEST. Only one application per student.
  3. All submitted application documents and files remain the property of Matrix Education.
  4. Incomplete applications (including broken links, omitted information, incorrect information) or submissions after the closing date will not be considered.

By submitting your application, both the student and the parent acknowledge and agree to the application guidelines. The decision of the Matrix Scholarship Committee at any stage of the application and assessment process, including termination, is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, the Matrix scholarship is open to current and non-Matrix students in year 10 and 11 in 2023.

The scholarship exams consist of one English and one Maths examination. The scholarship test is not a test which you can study for. They are skills based and designed to assess a student’s abilities.

Yes, as you would have last submitted your application a year ago. Your application for the 2024 Scholarship should consist of your most recent school reports and this years’ essay prompt response.

Interviews are currently planned to take place in person at our Sydney City head office. Matrix continues to take all necessary precautions to be COVID Safe and this will be discussed with the successful candidates at the time of the interviews.

There is no set number or quota for scholarship students. The number of Matrix Scholarships awarded will vary each year based on the quality of applicants.

The 2024 Matrix Scholarship will be valid for the upcoming academic year commencing 25 September 2023 and concluding 22 September 2024. Scholarship recipients are subject to quarterly reviews at the end of every term for the continuation of their Matrix Scholarship.
