All of our teachers are subject matter experts with degrees in their fields. Many have doctorate qualifications (PhD’s) in their area of expertise and some are actively researching in their academic discipline. Matrix teachers have HSC exam marking experience and/or extensive experience in writing and marking assessments and exams, and thus they know exactly how to help students maximize marks in school and HSC exams. Learn more about our teachers.
Matrix Education follows the Board of Studies Syllabus and our teachers train students to understand key concepts behind the theory, as opposed to memorizing information. In addition, students are taught the most effective exam techniques. Through repetition and close monitoring, every student understands and masters all facets of the course content. There is a maximum of 14 students per class. We also run one term ahead of schools, meaning that students cover the syllabus here first so when they learn it in school it’s revision for them and is a lot easier. Learn more.
Students are encouraged to attend a free one to one workshop if they miss a class. We ask that students review class material prior to attending a workshop to ensure the tutor can focus on areas where the student needs the greatest assistance.
We do not provide refunds or credits so we do encourage students to prioritize their learning and try to attend all their lessons. Students can however attend workshops which are free additional support sessions for all students.
Year 11 Maths courses change from 1.5 to 3 hours to ensure that the teacher has enough time to complete all of the content that is covered in the Board of Studies syllabus. Note: Matrix Year 11 Maths Ext 1 consists of Maths Advanced and Ext 1 courses.
We highly recommend that students study in the same year level at Matrix as they are at school in order for the tuition to be beneficial. We do have Acceleration Maths courses, starting from year 9, that students may apply for by contacting our Service team. The content covers the same depth as the regular course, but is delivered at a much faster pace to accelerate students learning. In order to apply for Acceleration we will need to see recent tests and reports for the student that is applying to ensure that they are at an appropriate level to keep up with the class.
Matrix now offers Year 12 students with 2 course structure options to help them manage their time more effectively during their final year. Accelerated Holiday Course is the advanced completion of whole term’s content during the school holidays, whereas the term course is timely delivery in alignment with school curriculum structure over 9 weeks. Students can choose either form of learning each term (but cannot change structure mid term). Students can select a combination of Holiday and Term course subjects to suit their individual needs and commitments e.g. Term Course English ADV + Holiday Accelerated Course Maths ADV + Holiday Accelerated Course Chemistry.
Matrix offers direct debit payment options to provide you with greater flexibility for term fees. It is deducted through monthly Payments via direct debit which can be made through a credit card, savings or cheque account, deducted on the 8th of each month.
For monthly Direct Debit, it will be deducted from the nominated account on the 8th of every month. If this falls on the weekend, it is deducted the following business day. An SMS will be sent to the nominated mobile number before this deduction occurs. We email invoices to the nominated email account at the end of every term.
The ‘First Lesson Money Back Guarantee’ or ‘FLMBG’ is an option available to all students new to Matrix Education. Should the student enrol for the term, if after the first lesson but before the second lesson of that term, either the student/parent advises the course is NOT suitable, and returns the resources before the second lesson, then we will essentially ‘cancel’ the enrolment. If money has been deducted for the term, then the amount will be refunded within 5 to 10 days. If no money has been deducted, we will adjust the debtor’s invoice to show there are no charges against the account. Please note : For current Matrix students looking to pick up a subject they have never before attended at Matrix Education, FLMBG is also available.
Students receive Work Booklets for each subject. Work Booklets are homework that consists of exam-style multiple-choice, short and long response questions. They allow students to practice the exam techniques and concepts learned in theory classes.
It is never too late to start tuition – the sooner you start the faster you can improve your marks and get ahead. Depending on the subject, students may attend the holiday course prior to the next course so they can catch up to their peers. Remember that we offer Workshops as additional assistance sessions to assist students in areas where they are experiencing difficultly. Our teachers are also there to support to students through the process.
